Overview
The Palestinian Authority (PA) is the Fatah-controlled government body that exercises partial civil control over the Palestinian enclaves in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Formed pursuant to the Gaza–Jericho Agreement between the PLO and the government of Israel, the PA has been seeking statehood and self-determination for the Palestinian people. The PA has been working to establish its institutions and has been receiving international support for its state-building efforts. Despite the challenges, the PA remains a crucial player in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the quest for a two-state solution.
